Aquavit is a traditional distilled Spirit from Scandinavia that’s usually served chilled in small tulip glasses as an Aperitivo. Now, meet the oldest Aquavit brand in the world: Linie. Back in 1805 the Lysholm family sent potato Aquavite to the East Indies: without much success. They really didn’t like it there, so they sent it back. Faith would have it, though, that the sea voyage did the Aquavit good, helping it mature and develop all its potential. Today, all Linie Aquavits are sent on a 4-months long sea journey across the world, crossing the Equator twice.

Made in Norway with the same recipe from 1821, Linie is crafted from potatoes that are distilled and put to rest in a pot still with a special blend of herbs and Nordic spices, including caraway and star anise. Then, the second phase begins with the Spirit moved into ex-Sherry casks to impart it with its golden color and subtle sweetness with hints of vanilla and wood. The final phase is that sea journey that shakes up this fine Spirit and makes it interact with wood even more intensely.
